Donald Trump is at it again. First, there were the limited-edition gold Trump-branded sneakers. Then came the Trump-inspired NFT digital trading cards. Now, with Easter weekend quickly approaching, Trump is selling us ‘God Bless the USA’ Bibles – I bet you didn’t have that on your 2024 bingo card.
Trump Urges Supporters To Buy Bible
On Tuesday (March 26) morning, Trump took to his Truth Social account to post a three-minute video of himself holding and promoting the limited edition Bible – which was inspired by Lee Greenwood’s patriotic anthem and hit song, ‘God Bless the USA’.
“Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible,” he wrote in the caption of his Truth Social post.
Says America Needs More Religion
In the video, Trump talked about how important the Bible was to him and how important it was that every household have at least one. He described ‘religion and Christianity’ as the ‘biggest things missing from this country’ – adding that we need to ‘bring them back fast.’
“I think it’s one of the biggest problems we have – that’s why our country is going haywire. We’ve lost religion in our country,” he said. “All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many – that’s my favorite book. It’s a lot of people’s favorite book.”
‘The Only Bible Endorsed By President Trump’
Trump shared a link to the website where people can purchase the Bible for $60. It boasts an ‘easy-to-read, large print, and slim design’ – which provides an ‘easy reading experience in the trusted King James Version translation.’
In addition to the Bible, every order comes with the Pledge of Allegiance, United States Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and handwritten chorus to “God Bless The USA” by Lee Greenwood. It’s being marketed as the ‘only Bible endorsed by President Trump.’
Proceeds Aren’t Going To His Campaign
Contrary to what many people might believe, the proceeds aren’t going toward Trump’s presidential campaign. A special message on their website confirms that the Bible ‘is not political’ and has ‘nothing to do with any political campaign.’
“GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Ventures LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates,” the company wrote – adding that it uses Trump’s name, image, likeness, and image under a paid license.
Rev. Nathan Empsall Takes Aim At Trump
Rev. Nathan Empsall – a priest in the Episcopal Church and the executive director of Faithful America – didn’t mince words when talking about the disrespect Christians are feeling after watching Trump’s video.
“Seeing the indicted, would-be dictator, sell so-called ‘patriotic’ Bibles does provide a parallel to Holy Week, but it’s not with Jesus,” Empsall said – adding that the video ‘really touched a nerve among voters’ and left many Faithful America members ‘upset.’
Suggests Trump Should Read It First
Empsall continued his rant by claiming that Trump was ‘doing his best impression of the corrupt moneychangers who profited by ripping off worshippers.’ According to him, Christians are ‘sick of seeing MAGA’s false prophets twist our loving faith for an agenda of hatred and selfishness.’
“The Bible is bigger than any politician, and if Trump really wants to talk about Scripture, I suggest he try actually reading it first. He might actually learn a few things about love, humility, money, and peace,” he concluded.
Liz Cheney Trolls Trump With Adultery Comment
Liz Cheney, a former Wyoming Rep. and one of Trump’s harshest critics, used the Bible video as ammunition against the former President. In a post on X, she told Trump that he should be buying a Bible, instead of selling them.
“And read it, including Exodus 20:14,” she continued – referring to a section in the Bible that reads, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery.’ For context, Trump has been accused of having an affair with Stormy Daniels while his wife, Melania Trump, was pregnant with their son.
Tara Setmayer Says It’s ‘More Blasphemous Grift’
Tara Setmayer, a senior advisor for The Lincoln Project, continued the trend and referenced Matthew 24:24, which reads, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
She described the video as ‘more blasphemous grift’ from the former President – which, unfortunately, falls in line with his ways. She added that there’s ‘nothing holy’ about selling Bibles endorsed by Trump, and sent out a ‘beware’ warning to anyone considering buying one.
Heath Mayo Urges Others To Reject Trump’s Bible
Heath Mayo, a conservative lawyer and founder of Principles First, urged Christians to ‘speak up and reject this’ – suggesting that Trump is ‘making a mockery of the flock.’ He also shared Cheney’s sentiment that he should read the bible, not sell it.
“This guy and his followers who excuse this crap piss me off. He has completely trashed our political party & now he’s trying to ruin our faith community for his own ends,” he wrote on X.
Trump Spokesperson Denounces The ‘Never Trump Idiots’
Trump has yet to comment any further about the Bible, but it comes at an interesting time. Let’s not forget that he was just ordered to pay $175 million to prevent NYC from seizing his property for failing to come up with $450 million in a civil case.
While he hasn’t made a comment, one of his spokespersons did. “These are Never Trump idiots suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” they said – referring to the ‘never trump movement,’ which is made up of conservatives against Trump.
Trump-Inspired Digital Trading Cards
Of course, this isn’t the first time Trump has tried to sell us something. In December 2022, He started releasing digital NFT trading cards, which sold out within hours – raising more than $4.5 million in the process.
One year later, Trump sold a special ‘Mugshot’ collection after he gave himself up to authorities. Those who purchased an NFT also received a physical card and a piece of Trump’s suit that was worn in the mugshot. A second batch of cards was released in April 2023.
Limited Edition Gold Trump-Branded Sneakers
Last month, Trump took center stage at the Philadelphia Convention Center for this year’s Sneaker Con to promote his $399 limited edition gold Trump-branded sneakers. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive the type of response he was hoping for.
In fact, a lot of the people in attendance were booing Trump while he spoke. “Wow, lot of emotion. There’s a lot of emotion in this room,” Trump said of the boos. His spokesperson later claimed that he wasn’t booed, but clips of the event confirm that he was.
Trump Compares Himself To Jesus Christ
Just a few days ago, Trump continued to anger Christians with a Truth Social post that he shared while in court for his hush money case in New York. The post referenced a Bible verse (Psalm 109:3–8) and likened his court case to the persecution of Jesus Christ.
“It’s ironic that Christ walked through His greatest persecution the very week they are trying to steal your property from you. But have you seen this verse…?’” he wrote.
